Man Arrested After Nine-Hour Standoff In Stratford

A 37-year-old man is in police custody after a nine-hour standoff with police ended peacefully in Stratford.

The Stratford Police Service says on Friday around 2pm, officers called to a house on Downie St. near Inverness St. after a man barricaded himself in the home with another male. The second male, whose age has not been released, was able to escape the home and get to police.

The Stratford Emergency Response Team, assisted by the London Police Service’s Emergency Response Unit, attempted to negotiate with the man.  At around 11pm, the man walked out of the house and was arrested.

No one was injured during the standoff.

An investigation is ongoing and police are not releasing any further information at this time.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
