Man Injured in Dufferin Industrial Mishap

Ontario Provincial Police are assisting the investigation of an industrial accident on a farm in Dufferin County.

The incident happened shortly before 3pm Saturday on a farm on the 3rd Line of Melancthon. A man apparently became trapped in a potato combine.

The man was trapped with serious leg injuries for at least 45 minutes before being freed by Honeywood Fire Department personnel. Dufferin EMS also assisted at the scene.

The worker was stabilized, then taken by Ornge air ambulance to an area hospital. The injuries are severe and possibly life-altering but the worker is in stable condition as of Saturday evening.

The man's identity has not been released.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour has been notified of the incident and representatives will attend the scene to determine how the accident took place.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
