Banners of veterans who lost their lives in two world wars were put on lamp poles throughout Clinton Sunday.
Central Huron Community Improvement Coordinator Angela Smith says the program was launched with six banners last year to gauge community support. The program was expanded this year thanks to strong support.
Families of the veterans provided the picture and the information and Smith did a little Photoshopping to improve the quality as much as possible.
Smith says the banners have particular significance because many of the names are still Clinton names, so people will know the families. The banners will likely come down in early December.
"I think it's felt in general that our veterans don't get as much recognition in this day and age as they should," says Smith. "So, it brings it to the fore front of everyone's mind and especially for the young people and they can see the names of each person, which is great because a lot of the names are Clinton names, so it's nice to see."
One family donated the money for a banner for the Unknown Soldier.
