Wanted Man Arrested By Off-Duty Officer After Foot Chase In Owen Sound

An Owen Sound man appears in court Friday to face charges from three different jurisdictions.

An officer on patrol in Owen Sound spotted the man walking on the east side of the city just before noon Thursday.

The 40-year-old was wanted on four bench warrants and a warrant for theft, failing to comply with probation, possession of stolen property, and for failing to attend court.

When the uniformed officer tried to make an arrest, the man allegedly started running through backyards. An off-duty officer joined the chase through the back yards of the 700-block of 16th St. E.   He was able to pin the man to the ground and make the arrest.

A search of the suspect allegedly uncovered a quantity of cocaine and a prohibited flick-knife.

The same man was wanted by Saugeen Shores Police Service for a break and enter where a gun was stolen.

Grey County OPP also had an outstanding warrant for the man for theft and failing to appear for court.

His bail hearing is scheduled for Friday in Owen Sound court.
