Lack Of Progress On Hotel In Goderich Questioned At Council

Goderich councillors had some questions about the lack of progress on the Comfort Inn Hotel on the site of the former Victoria Street Public School at Monday night's council meeting.

Mayor Kevin Morrison says the concern is the contract calls for a building to be up by the end of this year. Morrison says he doesn't see any problem in granting an extension on the contract, but the developers would have to apply for that in writing for council to consider the matter.

Morrison says there is a new site supervisor on the project now, but another problem has been getting skilled labour. He points that issue is not restricted to Huron County, but is a problem throughout rural Ontario.

Morrison says council was given a verbal report from the town's chief building officer during council's meeting and it sounds like they are moving forward.
