Hunters Warned to be Careful After Slug Found Shot Into a Home

Wellington County OPP are warning hunters to know what's beyond their targets before their fire.

OPP investigated a case of negligence with a firearm at rural residence near Kenilworth.

Police say the home on Sideroad 6 East between Concession Road 4 North and Concession Road 2 North is surrounded by fields and brush that are routinely hunted. A slug fired from the east of the home shattered glass, trim and a wall before hitting a chair. No one was home at the time so luckily no one was injured or killed.

In a release police say competent hunters will be aware of their target and beyond and ensure they have a proper back stop before pulling the trigger.

The Ministry of Natural Resources has been notified.
