Brockton Council Looks At Renewing Lease With Canada Post

Brockton Council will look at renewing their lease with Canada Post at their meeting Tuesday night.

The existing lease expired at the end of October.

The cost for the coming year would be $11.29 a sq ft or $57,225. and that would increase to $69,750 a year by November 2021.

The bylaw was deferred at the October 23 council meeting after requests from Councillors Peabody and Adams to conduct further negotiations.

Brockton leases just over 5,066 sq ft from Canada Post and Canada Post pays all utilities, taxes and exterior maintenance.

Canada Post was contacted but said the current agreement barely meets their costs.

Staff is recommending council accept the new lease contract.
