Huron Perth Landowners Host Magna Carta Speaker

An expert on the Magna Carta will speak in Brodhagen this week at the Huron Perth Landowners Association monthly meeting.

University of Toronto History Professor Dr. Carolyn Harris will talk about her passion for the "Great Charter."

She says even though it was signed 800 years ago, it still forms the basis of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The Huron County Landowners Association says many landowners feel their farmland is shrinking under growing government policies

Harris is a writer and authority on royal history. The landowners association wants to help the public learn how to deal with red tape and regulations that the HPLA claims stifle development and free enterprise.

The event starts at 7pm at the community centre this Thursday.
