Another Call To Save The Bayfield Arena Ice

A member of the Bayfield Arena Community Partners Association is questioning some of the calculations by the Municipality of Bluewater regarding the deficit and hours of use at the Bayfield Arena.

Mike Gozzard says municipal staff have pegged the deficit at around $70,000. He suggests the deficit is no more than $40,000 or $45,000.

Gozzard also points out the Partners Association has dramatically increased hours-of-use in the last three years, and there's some disagreement on that figure as well.

By removing the biggest revenue-generator from the building, Gozzard says the deficit the following year will be almost the same as it is now, but without ice.

The ice is to be removed from the Bayfield Arena at the end of the current hockey season.
