Wellington North Council Interested In Cannabis Growing Information

Wellington North has received several inquiries regarding the cultivation of cannabis once it is legalized.

CAO Mike Givens says federal regulations will be quite strict on such operations, but it would be good to know more about it.

Council heard if cannabis is legalized there is very little a local municipality could do to stop its cultivation.

But Mayor Andy Lennox says council could place some controls on it through the zoning bylaw.

Lennox says council might benefit from visiting a legal cannabis operation to see how it operates.
