UPDATE: House Fire East Of Seaforth

Updated at 4:21pm:

The future of a home east of Seaforth in St. Columban is in question after a fire broke out in the garage.

Fire crews from Seaforth and West Perth converged on the property on Thursday.

Huron East Fire Chief Marty Bedard says the call came in just after 11:50am Thursday as a garage fire, but by the time crews arrived the fire had spread into the house.

Seaforth station called in West Perth to assist.

The owners were not home at the time of the fire.

No cause has been determined but Bedard says the home suffered extensive damage.

Officials say the fire originated in the garage before spreading to an upstairs bedroom. The exact cause is unknown at this time.
