Wellington North Making Plans For 2018 Municipal Vote

Wellington North will pay about $18,000 to lease vote counting machines in the 2018 municipal election.

Mayor Andy Lennox said that price from Dominion Voting of Toronto is about the same, or slightly below the cost in the last election.

Wellington North council earlier agreed to use a mail-in vote for the 2018 municipal election.

The cost of the mail-in ballots will be in addition to the cost of the electronic counting machines.

Wellington North has also updated it's policy on municipal election recounts.

There will be an automatic recount if two top candidates come within five vote of each other.

In the past there was only an automatic recount if the winner and the second place person tied.

An individual candidate can still request a recount if the vote separation is more that five votes.
