Man Assaulted, Then Struck By Vehicle In Owen Sound

An Owen Sound man is in serious condition in hospital after being badly beaten, and then left lying on the road, where he was run over by a minivan.

Police say the 38-year-old man and two other men had a disagreement while inside an establishment Thursday night in the 1000-block of 2nd Ave. E.

All three men ended up in a fight outside, where the victim was badly beaten and left lying on the road in a dark area.

A short time later, an unrelated minivan ran over the semi-conscious man, causing further injuries. The driver, who happened to be a medical professional, assisted the victim until he could be rushed to hospital.

The man is listed in serious condition in Grey Bruce Health Services Owen Sound.

The assault is still under investigation and police are asking anyone who witnessed the assault or collision, or who has information, to contact the Owen Sound Police Service.
