Would-U-Rather Anti-Smoking Contest Registration Open

Registration is open for the annual would-u-rather event put on by Leave The Pack Behind.

The event is for young adults in Ontario and is aimed at getting them to quit smoking. It is a six-week long initiative with over $10,000 in prizes. There are four categories to enter under. Adults who smoke can enter to quit, cut back by half, or commit to staying away from smoking anytime they party or drink alcohol. Non-smokers and ex-smokers can also enter the contest in the “Don’t Start and Win” category.

Last year more than 7,000 young adults participated, and research shows that up to 20% will quit smoking, compared to the 5-7 percent that quit on their own. In Ontario, 19.4% of young adults 19-29 currently smoke tobacco, with rates slightly higher in Southwestern Ontario at 20.4%. Registration for this event is open at wouldurather.ca until January 28, 2018, at 11:59 pm.
