West Perth Barn Fire Contained To Second Story

A barn fire in West Perth was contained this morning from causing massive damage.

At 7:57 am, West Perth Mitchell Fire Department, alongside North Perth Fire Department (Monkton and Atwood stations), were called to a barn fire at 5501 Line 44.

The cause appears to be an electrical issue, and the fire is not deemed suspicious.

The barn was housing 15,000 chickens. Losses are still being compiled, however building and equipment damage is estimated to be approximately $10,000.00. The majority of the chickens survived.

West Perth and Perth East Fire Chief Bill Hunter says the fire was contained to the second story.
