Mantz Scores a Hat Trick for Walkerton; Parr Frustrates Ironmen

Gary Mantz had a hat trick and set up two more in the Walkerton Hawks 8-2 win over Goderich.

Ryan Shaw and Reid Simmons each scored and had a pair of assists in the win.

Noah Kuno scored against his former team in his first game in a Hawks jersey. Kuno's trade from the Flyers was announced earlier in the day.

Other scorers: Brady Stewart and Brendan Welsh.

The Flyers got goals from Cody Treble and Mitch Fisher.

Walkerton jumped out to a three goal lead just six-and-a-half minutes into the game before Goderich answered with the only two goals they would score. Mantz netted his first of the game to close out the first period and give Walkerton a 4-2 lead.

The Hawks scored two more in the second period and Mantz completed his hat trick with a pair of third period goals.

Cody van der Heide allowed both of the Flyers goals before being replaced by Mathew Donnelly before the first period was over. Donnelly made 16 saves for the Hawks in relief.

Brandon Bean made 30 saves and suffered the loss for Goderich.

Mitchell 5 Wingham 2

Tyler Parr frustrated the Ironmen, stopping 41 shots to lift the Mitchell Hawks over Wingham 5-2.

Blake Pickering had a four point night for Mitchell , scoring and setting up three for the Hawks.

Jarett Bogdon struck twice and had an assist for Mitchell and Reid Ramseyer scored and had an assist in the win.

The Ironmen got goals from Jamie Huber and Kyle Stanbury.

Wyatt Nicholson made 19 saves for the Ironmen.

Neither team was able to score with the man advantage.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
