A large water main break in Owen Sound is affecting water pressure and possibly water quality.

The break occurred late Wednesday night in the Industrial Pressure Zone and affected properties north of 10th St. E and east of 9th Ave. E.

Residents are being advised not to use or drink the water.

The city will consult with the Ministry of Environment and Grey Bruce Health Unit about the next steps.

The advisory is expected to remain in place for at least 24 hours.

The city is making the Bayshore Community Centre and the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre available for showers on Thursday until 10pm and Friday starting at 6:30am.

The Family Y is also available, but you need ID and a lock. Drinking water is available at the Water Depot (640 10th St. W) and the Water Store (1565 16th St. W) for residents affected by the advisory. The Water Store has a limited supply. Residents affected are encouraged to bring their own water containers for transportation.
