Vancouver IT Firm Opens Office In Underwood

A Vancouver-based IT consulting firm is moving into the area to support its operations at Bruce Power.

Sierra Systems has opened an office in Underwood at the Bruce Township Community Centre after about five years as a Bruce Power supplier.

Vice President and Account Executive Dave Duff says they currently have 59 people working in Bruce County between their office and the Bruce Power site, adding most of those people have come from the Toronto area.

He says one of the things Sierra Systems is looking to do as they settle in Bruce County is to add more local talent.

"A lot of the 59 [employees] that we currently have come out of the Toronto area, and I want to change that," says Duff. "I want to get it so that we have local people up here doing the work, there's absolutely no reason that all of this skill-set needs to be Toronto-based."

Duff adds the local office will also allow the company to become more involved in community initiatives.
