Pickup Smashes Into Owen Sound Mall, ATM Stolen

Thieves in a stolen pickup truck caused considerable damage to the Heritage Place Mall in Owen Sound on the weekend and stole an ATM machine.

Around 3:30am Saturday morning, a stolen pickup truck was driven through the double set of doors leading to the food court of the mall.

Two individuals loaded an ATM machine into the rear box of the pickup truck and left by the same route they came in.

A short time later, the stolen pickup was found on fire behind a business off of 20th St. E. The suspects had removed the ATM machine and appear to have set the vehicle on fire.

The vehicle had been stolen earlier in the morning from the driveway of a residence on the west side of Owen Sound.

The Owen Sound Police Forensic Identification Unit attended both scenes. It has not been determined how much money was in the ATM machine when it was stolen.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Owen Sound Police Service at 519-376-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).
