More Janitorial Staffing Needed At New North Perth Rink

Break out the mops.

North Perth is in need of more janitorial staff and hours at the new Steve Kerr Memorial Complex. CAO Kris Snell gave a report to council Monday night detailing the need for the increase.

"We're looking at adding about 20 hours of custodial staff to cover the custodial needs of the new facility," says Snell. "The new facility of, of course, much larger square foot-wise, but it's also open far many more hours."

Snell says it's not just the size, it's the increased use of the building.

"So far the community is using the new facility to what we had hoped. The walking track is always busy, but with the facility being busy it does require more cleaning."

Snell says the added hours will be factored into the municipal budget as recreational costs.
