Team Smailes Claims Grey Bruce Major Curling Title

Shawn Smailes is the new champion of the Brokerlink Grey Bruce Major Curling league.

Smailes rink from Chelsey defeated defending champion Al Hutchinson 7-5 in the semifinal to advance to the final on Sunday.

Team Smailes defeated Bartley's rink 4-2. It's the first title for the team that includes Brett McAllister, Casey Harvie and Craid Reid.

Bartley advanced to the final with an 8-3 win over Mike Hamer in the semifinal.

Eight-time league champion Hutchinson had to settle for 4th this year following an 8-5 win over Mike Hamer.
