Union Gas Makes Donation To Perth East Fire Department

Perth East got a helping hand from one of its business partners Thursday morning.

Union Gas presented a $1,000 cheque to the Milverton Fire Department.

Union Gas Manager of Community Expansion James Whittaker says they wanted to show their ongoing commitment to the municipality.

"So we just wanted to demonstrate our partnership that we've had with the township of Perth East for a number of years, and recognize that with a donation toward CO alarms for their fire department," he says.

Whittaker notes the Union Gas expansion in Perth East is well underway with Milverton being serviced currently, and the Rostock and Wartburg expansions will be coming soon.

Perth East Mayor Bob McMillan says the ongoing relationship with Union Gas has been very positive.

"The benefit to the community will be seen for many years down the road, and of course lots of communities have natural gas and benefit from that," says McMillan. "So we're looking forward to this kick-off if you will today, and the good things that come from this, whether that's saving people a few dollars or spurring some economic development."
