Second-Hand Cannabis Smoke Just As Harmful

The Huron County Health Unit has a message regarding second-hand cannabis smoke.

Senior Health Promoter Angela Willert says they want to warn people about the risks involved in exposure to second-hand cannabis smoke, and the message is simple -- "smoke is smoke".

Willert says people need to limit their exposure to cannabis smoke just as they do tobacco smoke because it also produces toxins that can damage your lungs. She says it has also been linked to respiratory symptoms and to chronic bronchitis.

She believes recreational cannabis use will be subject to the same restrictions as tobacco, such as not being permitted in public places, not in workplaces, or not inside vehicles.

Willert adds they believe recreational and medicinal cannabis will be regulated separately.
