Addition Planned At St. Anthony's School In Kincardine

Over $6-million in provincial funding will expand and improve St. Anthony's Catholic Elementary School in Kincardine.

The Ministry of Education announced funding for a new addition on Thursday, along with the creation of four childcare rooms for early years programs.

The project will eliminate the need for six planned portable classrooms and will allow the library to be reclaimed. It is currently being used as a classroom

Education Director Jamie McKinnon says the board welcomes the challenge to expand and improve innovative learning environments.

The project will create an additional 190 student spaces and 78 childcare spaces.

A total of 414 students currently attend St. Anthony's, putting the school at 123% capacity.
