Suspect Sought In Attempted Bank Fraud In Elora

The OPP in Wellington County are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who is using fake ID and credit cards that could be stolen.

Police were alerted by the TD bank in Elora that a man tried to withdraw over $4,000 using a fraudulently-obtained bank card. His attempt was unsuccessful.

An investigation determined that the man had been at another bank in the area, provided a fake identification card, and acquired a replacement bank card for a valid clients account.

Anyone with information on this man is asked to contact the Wellington County OPP.

Police are reminding everyone that identity thieves can use your mail, social media accounts, and even your garbage to gather personal information that can be used against you.
