Ironmen Take Decisive Lead in Pollock Division Playoff

Kyle Stanbury struck twice and set up another as the Wingham Ironmen doubled Mitchell 4-2. The Ironmen now lead their opening round Pollock Division playoff 3-0.

Stanbury's first goal came just 1:35 into the game. Scott Stovel made it 2-0 Wingham just past the midway point of the first period.

Both teams were held off the scoresheet in the second period. Stanbury scored again at 1:35 of the third, this time on the power play, to make it 3-0 Wingham. Jamie Huber had a power play goal at 9:10 to give the Ironmen a 4-0 lead.

Nick Jung put the Hawks on the board with just under six minutes left in regulation. Reid Ramseyer scored with 16 seconds left.

Both teams spent a lot of time in the penalty box. The Hawks gave the Ironmen 10 power play opportunities while Mitchell went 1 for 13 with the man advantage.

Wyatt Nicholson earned the win in net for Wingham with 28 saves. Tyler Parr stopped 39 shots for the Hawks.

Game 4 is Friday night in Wingham at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex at 8:30 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
