Lost Woman Calls Grey County OPP

Grey County OPP responded when a woman called to say she became disoriented while snowshoeing at the Grey Sauble Conservation Management Property

That happened Saturday about 6:38pm near Grey Rd. 17 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The female was alone, and her cell phone battery was running low.

Members of the Grey County OPP found the woman about 7:30pm and delivered her to safety.

The 47-year old victim from Owen Sound was examined by Grey County Paramedics Services (EMS) at the scene and found to be all right.

Some safety tips to consider:

- check the current weather conditions before you head out

- wear a warm waterproof jacket and pants, thermal underwear, a second layer of warm clothing, warm gloves, socks, a hat, waterproof hiking boots, and properly fitting snowshoes

- carry essentials such as a flashlight, whistle or mirror, snacks, water, a navigational or communication aid, a first aid kit, pocket knife, winter/ski poles (optional)

- leave a trip plan with a family member or friend, better yet - go snowshoeing with someone.
