No School Bus Strike In Bruce And Grey

School buses in several communities in Bruce and Grey will be running as usual Thursday morning.

The union representing drivers in the Kincardine-Port Elgin and Owen Sound-Wiarton areas and First Student Canada have come to a tentative agreement.

The deadline was 12:01am Thursday.

"This is good news for drivers and good news for parents," said Debbie Montgomery, president of Unifor Local 4268. "Despite a difficult round of bargaining, the bargaining committees have secured a deal that improves wages and working conditions."

Details of the deal will not be released until after ratification.

The union is also pushing the province to increase funding to the Student Transportation Grant.

In a message from the Student Transportation Service Grey Bruce, all First Student buses in the Owen Sound-Wiarton and Kincardine-Port Elgin areas will be running on their regular schedule.
