Owen Sound Native Recognized As Volunteer Of The Year

A longtime volunteer with the Summerfolk Music and Crafts Festival in Owen Sound has been recognized for her efforts.

Carol Parsons has been named volunteer of the year by Festival and Events Ontario.

Festival coordinator Roxane Davidson says Parsons has been with Summerfolk for over 25 years and has done just about everything at the festival. She is now co-chair.

"Volunteering and giving is Carol. I don't know a volunteer that gives as much as she does. She gives time, she gives money, she gives her heart to the whole organization," says Davidson.

Parsons spends winters in the U.S. as volunteer coordinator for the LPGA, which is just one of the innumerable organizations she gives her time to.
