Blyth's 'Pigeon King' Heading to Ottawa

The Blyth Festival's production of The Pigeon King will be travelling to Ottawa next year.

Blyth Artistic Director Gil Garratt confirms that The Pigeon King will be performed at the National Art Centre in Ottawa in 2019.

Garratt explains National Art Centre Artistic Director Jillian Keiley saw The Pigeon King in Blyth last summer and enjoyed it so much she's staging at the Centre.

Garratt is confident the play will transition well from a small rural community to the big city and the production that Ottawa audiences see will be true to the production in Blyth.

"We're gonna keep the show as pure and true as it was here, and that's actually a big part of what attracted Jill. She, in her time at the National Arts Centre has really tried to put Canada on that stage, which is kind of a new thing at the National Arts Centre."
