UPDATE: Bus Driver Charged After Girl Hit By Car Near Drayton

Provincial police have laid charges against a bus driver after a 6-year-old girl was struck by a car after she got off a school bus near Drayton.

The girl was rushed to hospital after being hit while crossing Wellington Rd. 8 at around 4pm on Wednesday.

The child was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The OPP say there were multiple witnesses to the incident and the driver remained at the scene.

OPP now say the bus driver, a 61-year-old man from the Township of Mapleton, has been charged with failing to use school bus signals contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and was issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
