Fatal Collision Near Walkerton Saturday Night

South Bruce OPP officers are investigating a single motor vehicle crash Saturday night west of Walkerton.

At approximately 8:45 p.m. South Bruce OPP, Bruce County Paramedic Services and personnel from the Walkerton Fire Department responded to a call of a Pontiac sedan that had entered a ditch and caught fire on Bruce Road 20, just north of Highway 9 in Brockton.

The lone driver of the vehicle was found by first responders lying near his vehicle with vital signs absent. Immediate lifesaving measures were provided, however the male was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as Patrick Goode, 52 years of age from Powassan, ON.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled.

Investigators from the West Region OPP Technical Collision Investigation Team attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
