Survey Demonstrates Interest In Regular Flights From Wiarton

The Township of Georgian Bluffs has been given a strong message about the future use of the Wiarton Keppel International Airport.

An online and interview survey was conducted in March. It was designed to assess the degree of interest from Grey-Bruce residents in having regularly scheduled flight service from Wiarton to Toronto and other destinations in Canada and the U.S.

The response was overwhelming, with over 2,300 surveys completed, and 23,000 shares on social media.

The majority of respondents indicated that they would be "extremely or very likely" to fly from Wiarton Airport to Toronto if the service was offered. Nearly all respondents travel to Toronto for leisure or business, with 30% visiting seven or more times a year.

The possibility of regularly scheduled flights will depend on the business case and how that aligns with expansion strategies of regional airlines.

Georgian Bluffs remains committed to developing the Wiarton Airport to serve businesses, residents and tourists.

The final results of the survey can be found on-line at the Wiarton Airport website.
