Wellington North Raises Industrial Lot Prices

Wellington North is increasing the price of serviced industrial land.

Despite the concerns of several council members, the cost per acre is rising from $15,000 to $25,000.

Mayor Andy Lennox argued that Wellington North only owns about six acres in Mount Forest, and none in Arthur, and the cost of creating new serviced industrial land will exceed $25,000 per acre.

Neighbouring Minto recently raised its price to $35,000.

Meanwhile, industrial and agricultural building permits accounted for almost $4-million of the total $5-million in construction in April in Wellington North.

71 building permits worth $12.5-million were issued to the end of April, compared to the average over the last ten years for the same period of 52 permits worth $5.9-million.
