Fatal Collision In Elderslie Township

A single-vehicle collision in Bruce County has claimed the life of a St. Jacobs man.

On Saturday at 11:32am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single-vehicle crash along Bruce County Rd. 10 in Elderslie Township.

Officers arrived to find that a northbound car had left the roadway and struck a guardrail before coming to rest on its roof.

The driver, 65-year-old David Hicknell of St. Jacobs, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger was air-lifted to a London hospital for treatment of serious, non-life threatening, injuries.

Bruce County Rd. 10 was closed between Concession 6 and Concession 8 for the safety of emergency responders. It has since re-opened to traffic.
