Crime Stoppers Grey Bruce Holds Biggest Fundraiser of the Year

The 26th annual Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce golf tournament is nearly booked up including a host of celebrities.

NHL alumni Billy Smith, Les Binkley, Paul MacDermid, and Curtis Sanford will be there as well as Canadian Broadcaster Brian Williams.

It's all happening Friday, June 1st at the Saugeen Golf Club in Saugeen Shores.

Vice chair of Crime Stoppers Grey Bruce, Peter Reid says its their biggest fundraiser of the year.

"It covers our core expenses," Reid says. "It also covers our awards. As we are a registered charity, you know funding is always tight and this is our biggest event of the year and it provides the majority of our funding."

Reid says all of the money raised goes to Crime Stoppers to help with the work they do.

"We've been active in Grey and Bruce now for over 30 years," he says. "During that time we've removed over $52 million worth of drugs and recovered stolen property. I think that's quite the accomplishment and we're pretty proud of that."
