UPDATE: Goderich Salt Mine Strike Continues

The strike at the Sifto Salt Mine in Goderich is now into its second month.

A Toronto company has been retained by the mine to continue producing salt to meet customer's needs. There is concern about replacement workers, with National Union Representative Glenn Sonier noting it's a double-hit to the community because the regular workers are not working and the replacement workers are actually taking money out of the community.

There are no new talks scheduled between the union and the company.

The union representing hourly workers commenced a strike on April 27.
