Plans Continue For Partial Removal Of Truax Dam

Brockton residents can look forward to a unique public space very soon along the Saugeen River waterfront.

Jeff Graham of GSS Engineering Consultants Ltd. made a presentation to council, updating the design progress, and to clarify their plans after a portion of the Truax Dam is removed.

Graham says engineering drawings are 90% complete, and a design report that includes flood modelling and sediment transfer modelling are being completed at this time.

Councillor Steve Adams raised concerns about the future of some Rotary trails along the Saugeen River, saying "the residents of Walkerton will be pretty upset if this becomes a stone garden with water running through it".

Graham noted that consultation continues with Aboriginal groups, and sediment samples from the head pond area will be collected for heavy metal analysis when river flows drop.
