Owen Sound Man Charged In Home Invasion

Police have arrested one man in connection to a violent home invasion in Owen Sound.

The Owen Sound Police Service says on Monday around 3pm, a man went to the home on 4th Ave E near 18th St. E, and forced his way in after a male resident opened the door.  An argument between the two individuals turned physical when the man kicked the resident and assaulted him again when he was on the ground.

The man grabbed cash from the home, held a knife to the victim’s throat and then assaulted another resident.

Police located and arrested a suspect in a downtown parking lot on June 5. During the arrest, police seized a folding knife, $40 worth of heroin,  1.75 g of fentanyl worth $650, and two 50 mg tablets of codeine.

A 25-year-old Owen Sound man is now charged with break and enter to commit an indictable offence, assault, assault with a weapon, robbery with a weapon, possession of heroin, possession of fentanyl, possession of codeine and possession of proceeds of crime

The accused appeared in court on Wednesday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
