Saugeen Shores Issues Temporary Watering Ban

Saugeen Shores has implemented a temporary watering ban.

A new bylaw restricts watering lawns or gardens, filling pools or any other water usage outside the home.

A release states water usage is approaching higher levels that are usually not seen until at least August, and staff have confirmed that around 40% of that total is being used to water lawns and other outdoor areas.

Residents can apply to the town for a permit if they wish to fill their pools at a cost of just over $100, plus the cost of the water. The house fire in Port Elgin today also contributed to the ban.
