Port Elgin Beach Promenade To Get A Facelift

The main beach promenade in Port Elgin is getting a makeover.

Saugeen Shores Council voted to approve staff to proceed with a request for proposal for the extension of the promenade. The extension will provide a safe and accessible pedestrian route to the southern end of the Port Elgin Main Beach and will connect the look-out points and key destinations. Staff is asking to include the construction and redesign of the path around the Harbour and leading into North Shore Park.

The total cost for all the work is roughly $590,000, and a process to find a preferred contractor will now take place. The start date for the project to begin is set for the fall of this year.
