A Durham woman is facing multiple charges after hitting a Hanover police car.
Hanover Police Chief Christopher Knoll says officers were called to the McDonald's restaurant Saturday evening on a report of a vehicle crash involving a driver who had fled the scene.
Shortly after, witnesses flagged down an officer, who spotted a vehicle with front-end damage traveling westbound on County Rd. 4 near County Rd. 3 in West Grey. The officer positioned the cruiser in front of the slow-moving vehicle, which struck it head-on and caused minor damage, according to Knoll.
The Hanover officer was treated for minor injuries and released from a local hospital.
The 40-year-old woman was arrested and charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample. She was released after sobering up and was ordered to appear in Walkerton court on July 11.
Knoll says the suspect may still face charges of failing to remain at the scene of at least two motor vehicle collisions in Hanover.
The West Grey Police Service is assisting in the investigation. Knoll says failure-to-remain charges may be laid by West Grey as well.
