Mid-Huron Landfill Site Changes Next Week

The new board of the former Mid-Huron Land Fill Site has been formed.

The new name is the Mid-Huron Recycling Centre Board and it consists of the town of Goderich and the municipalities of Huron East and Central Huron.

"The hazardous waste will be available for all residents of Huron County and the recycling will be what is there now -- electric waste -- and there will be the separation into bunkers of wood materials and shingles," says Goderich CAO Larry McCabe.

McCabe adds there will be a couple of bins for refuse for people who bring it in in a mixed load and separate it, but it is basically a recycling centre. The change becomes official on July 3.

As far as waste pick up, the situation in Goderich remains as it has in the past, with Waste Management providing curbside pickup.

Central Huron and Huron East have their own arrangements for curbside pickup.
