Larry Miller Against New Police Powers In Bill C-46

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Larry Miller has sent a letter regarding Bill C-46, specifically the provision that would allow police to conduct random breath testing.

While the bill was introduced to create measures for those who use drugs and drive, Miller says most don't know the bill introduces new police powers at the roadside for alcohol detection.

Miller calls the new powers concerning and says experts have repeatedly stated that the bill could breach Section 8 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which states all Canadians have the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure.

Miller warns that after December 31, Canadians could be in for more lengthy police stops, stating the Liberals have "adopted a new roadside philosophy of guilty until proven innocent".
