Owen Sound Police Launch 'Safe Exchange Zone'

The Owen Sound Police station now has an official "Safe Exchange Zone".

It's located in the parking lot adjacent to the main door of the station. It's to be used by people who want a safe place to meet for parental custody transfers or to assess and purchase goods from people they have met online.

The Police Service building has enhanced video coverage overlooking the four parking spaces at 922 2nd Ave. W.    There is one wheelchair/mobility accessible parking space in this safe zone.

The "Safe Exchange Zone" will be open 24 hours per day, year-round.

These parking spaces can be used as a prearranged meeting point for: - Family/Parental meeting place for shared custody transfers - Reviewing/Signing of documents between persons - Receiving/Accepting legal documents; or similar instruments of law - Inspecting/Assessing goods offered for sale, prior to purchase - Delivering/Receiving goods that have been sold/purchased online or by another contract.
