Co-Chair Proud Of Weekend Golf Tournament In Seaforth

The Co-Chair of this weekend's Seaforth Country Classic says she's very excited about how well this year's tournament went both with the number of spectators as well as golfers.

This was the first time the Country Classic has included both men and women golfers and there were exciting finishes and entertaining golf on both sides.

Carolanne Doig says they believe this is the first time an event like this has been held in Canada and the winners on both the Men's and Women's side took home the same $7,500 pay cheque. She says she believes this is the beginning of something that's going to spread to other places.

She adds Jim Kenesky of Great Lakes Tour, one of the partners in this weekend's event, is already talking about having another event which would give women professionals more incentive to come to this area to play so she's optimistic that this weekend's tournament could be the start of something very positive for women's golf.

This weekend's Country Classic also raised almost seven thousand dollars for the Huron Hospice Volunteers Services.
