Two Charged With Racing In Owen Sound

The need for speed has landed two drivers in hot water.

Owen Sound police say an officer was conducting a routine traffic stop on 10th St. E. near 2nd Ave. E. around 11:40pm Friday when he saw two eastbound vehicles racing in his direction.

Both vehicles were stopped by the officer and each driver was charged with racing under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

An 18-year-old Meaford man and a 49-year-old man from Owen Sound will appear in court in September to respond to the charge. Both of their driver's licences were suspended for seven days and their vehicles impounded for seven days.
