Owen Sound Transit Pass Cheaper For Students

Owen Sound City Council is cutting transit pass costs for students.

Council voted to reduce the cost of a monthly Student Transit Pass from $45 to $35 for the 2018-2019 school year, and from $40 to $35 for elementary students.

It is hoped the change will encourage students to use the City Transit System.

Transit ridership has increased from 188,000 in 2016 to 200,453 in 2017 and based on data from the first five months of the year is estimated to increase to 209,000 in 2018.

Student bus passes are available at the Bus Terminal, the Library, the service counter at City Hall and the Georgian College bookstore.
