The search is on for a boater missing in Owen Sound Harbour.

Ontario Provincial Police say they were called around 5:20pm Saturday. A boater had apparently gone into the water along with a family friend to help retrieve a pet that had jumped into the water from their boat. When the boater failed to resurface, family and friends contacted authorities.

OPP Acting Sergeant Ken Johnston says the OPP's Marine Unit, along with the Owen Sound Fire Department, Grey County EMS, the Canadian Coast Guard and personnel from Canadian Forces Base Trenton, continue to assist in the search.

Anyone with information that may help the authorities is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
