Suspected Drowning In Tiny Township

A 35-year-old man has apparently drowned in the Bluewater Beach area of Tiny Township.

The Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police says they were called around 12:50pm Sunday to a waterfront location between 3rd and 4th Concession Rds. in Tiny Township.

The man's companions told police they had been swimming in that area and they found him underwater and unresponsive. OPP Constable David Hobson says Good Samaritans immediately began CPR on the victim once he was removed from the water.

The Tiny Township Fire Service and County of Simcoe Paramedic Service continued CPR before transporting him by ambulance to Georgian Bay General Hospital. He was pronounced dead there a short time later.

The victim was from Toronto and had been visiting the area. The man's name has not yet been released while police notify loved ones.

The investigation is ongoing.
